QUARTER AND YEAR BUTTONS

FIRST ICON FROM THE LEFT

to switch data types:

  • expense
  • n° of purchases
  • n° of days of purchase (each item’s quarterly data over quarter’s data, or each sub category’s data over its category’s data)
  • expense frequency (each item’s n° of days of purchase over n° of calendar days up to the current day)

expense and n° of purchases data show the absolute amount and the share over the total in the time frame (the quarter, in this case)

n° of days of purchase percentage, tells you how frequent each item is in your expense

expense frequency, tells you how frequent your expense is in the quarter

the percentages for n° of days of purchase and expense frequency aren’t actually shares (because multiple items can have expense on all the n° of days on which expense has been made, overall, or on all the calendar days)

TAP ON ANY CARD:

  • to see quarterly data on the sub categories of the tapped category, in the selected quarter and year, and shares over the category data
  • tap on any sub category card, to see data on all sub categories, no matter the category they belong to, and the shares over total data in the quarter

say, you want to know quarterly data on a category or sub category, but you don’t know the quarter where it has expense:

  • you can switch quarters and item types until you find your item, or
  • you can tap the C icon, and tap and hold on the card for the item you’re interested in

for example, apparel: tap and hold on apparel card and you’ll get apparel’s time of recurrence

for example: computer

say, you want to know the quarterly data breakdown by month:

  • instead of going back to main page and then to months page, you can tap and hold on the card for the item you’re interested in

if there’s a number of very low percentages, you can make the graphs longer to see the difference in weight among items, at a glance:

  • you tap the magnifier icon (1X and 2X zoom)

if you removed from consideration some sub category, for example to focus on your ordinary expense and want to know the categories whose weight on the total data is altered by exceptional expense, you can highlight those categories by tapping the pencil icon;

to know how much the exceptional expense alters the category’s weight on the ordinary expense, you tap the globe icon:

  • data are re-calculated, without considering the sub categories removed from consideration that have expense in the quarter

you can tap the list icon, to get an idea of how much the exceptional expense (in this example) skews the total expense from the common expense

(first view is for all sub categories in Q4 but the ones removed from consideration; the second one considers all the sub categories with expense in Q4)
