VARIABILITY ACROSS YEARS-QUARTERS PAGE

VARIABILITY OF DATA IN EACH QUARTER, OVER THE PAST YEARS

VARIABILITY OF  DATA FOR EACH CATEGORY AND SUB CATEGORY IN EACH QUARTER, OVER THE PAST YEARS

in each item type view, data are about:

  • expense
  • n° of purchases
  • n° of days of purchase

only past data are considered:

  • therefore, the most recent year of expense isn’t considered for the calculations, because it’s regarded as the current year

the red line in the center of the bar graph

it represents the average (for example the average expense in the same quarter, over the past years)

the length of the green bar

for example for expense, it represents, how much, on average, the actual expense in the same quarter in each of the past years, differs from the average of that expense, as a percentage of that average

the shorter the bar, the less variable, on average, the actual data in the same quarter in each of the past years, from the average (the less, on average, the data in the same quarter, changes from year to year)

  • if Var% is over 100%, the bar length doesn’t change

the data tell you, whether:

  • the data in the same quarter is stable over the years
  • and therefore, whether the average data is a good indicator of the actual data
  • the quarters with the most stable data, over the years
  • the items with the most stable data in the same quarter, over the years
